Kellie Peterson, a native the Midwest, has spent her entire legal career litigating in South Florida. Kellie received her undergraduate degree in 1998 while attending college on a fastpitch softball scholarship. She graduated in just three (3) years before going on to receive her Juris Doctor degree and relocating to South Florida to begin practicing law in 2001. Kellie began her litigation career at the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office where she gained extensive experience litigating criminal trials in juvenile, county and circuit courts. In 2014, Kellie received the prestigious FACDL- Rodney Thaxton “Against All Odds” Award for her exemplary representation of defendants charged with First Degree Murder and facing the Death Penalty. Kellie is a first chair qualified death penalty lawyer, defending some the most difficult, high profile murder cases in South Florida. Kellie also has extensive experience in the area of civil litigation, specializing in the area of property insurance claims. Kellie has experience working in law firms both on behalf of homeowner’s insurance companies, as well as providing representation to Florida homeowner’s who have had an insurance claim unfairly underpaid or denied.
